The Coastal Bend PRIDE Center is the first and only LGBTQIA+ community center south of San Antonio. Currently serving 12 counties within the Coastal Bend region, the Pride Center offers multiple social and support groups, health access, advocacy initiatives, and community education and training.

It was wonderful to see so many of people of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies come out and speak in support of keeping books about diversity and inclusion in our public libraries. Your presence and voices at the city hall meeting on Tuesday were powerful and essential.
If you were unaware, the Corpus Christi Library Board has formed a subcommittee that is trying to change the Library Collection Development Policy. Some of the women on the board and subcommittee are known to be members of the Moms for Liberty & Citizens Defending Freedom, two organizations who have goals to rid public entities of DEI protections and silence LGBTQ+ and diverse voices.
Tuesday, a group of concerned citizens went to the Corpus Christi City Council meeting to raise awareness and share our concerns regarding this subcommittee. Now, we continue to watch the Library Board to see what actions they take and we will stay in touch with our local elected officials so they can help us with our concerns.
Together, we will continue to advocate for a library collection that represents and respects everyone. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to inclusion and diversity!
