Are you a parent or guardian of an LGBTQ+ individual? Would you like to network with and support other parents who have LGBTQ+ children of all ages and share your story with them? Then this is the group for you! Join in our Parent Group Thursday evenings at the Coastal Bend Pride Center. This is a safe space to discuss hardships, offer support, and provide meaningful connections between group members. We will also discuss how we can best support LGBTQ+ youth throughout our area.
It is natural to have questions and need support, parents can sometimes struggle when their loved one comes out as LGBTQ+ or gender diverse. This group will focus on helping parents gain a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and how we can best support our LGBTQ+ youth as we learn more about the community.
This group will navigate topics and questions such as:
The LGBTQ+ Parent Support Group meets Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30pm via Zoom and in person at the Coastal Bend Pride Center. Questions may be directed to the Pride Center staff by calling 361-557-7433.

It was wonderful to see so many of people of the LGBTQ+ community and our allies come out and speak in support of keeping books about diversity and inclusion in our public libraries. Your presence and voices at the city hall meeting on Tuesday were powerful and essential.
If you were unaware, the Corpus Christi Library Board has formed a subcommittee that is trying to change the Library Collection Development Policy. Some of the women on the board and subcommittee are known to be members of the Moms for Liberty & Citizens Defending Freedom, two organizations who have goals to rid public entities of DEI protections and silence LGBTQ+ and diverse voices.
Tuesday, a group of concerned citizens went to the Corpus Christi City Council meeting to raise awareness and share our concerns regarding this subcommittee. Now, we continue to watch the Library Board to see what actions they take and we will stay in touch with our local elected officials so they can help us with our concerns.
Together, we will continue to advocate for a library collection that represents and respects everyone. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to inclusion and diversity!
