Peer Support Group

Our Transgender Support Group is a group that focuses on peer support for transgender and non-binary adults, parents, and allies. Our group is different from others as we welcome anyone, we have both trans and non-trans attendees. The Transgender support group provides the tools needed so they will be empowered, supported and validated as they transition to their authentic self. Participants agree to keep confidentiality of what is shared in the meeting, be aware of good social and communication skills, and create a community of support.

The group will navigate topics and questions such as:

Gender Spectrum
Myths about Gender
The Coming Out Process
Community and online resources

The Transgender support group currently meets every Tuesday at the Coastal Bend PRIDE Center.

Parent Support Group

The Pride Center’s LGBTQ+ Parent Group is every First and Third Thursday evening at the Coastal Bend Pride Center for parents, guardians, and family members of LGBTQ+ individuals. This is a safe space to discuss hardships, offer support, and provide meaningful connections between group members. We will also discuss how we can best support LGBTQ+ youth throughout our area.

It is natural to have questions and need support, parents can sometimes struggle when their loved one comes out as LGBTQ+ or gender diverse.  This group will focus on helping parents gain a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and how we can best support our LGBTQ+youth as we learn more about the community.
