LGBTQ+ Parent Support Group

Are you a parent or guardian of an LGBTQ+ individual? Would you like to network with and support other parents who have LGBTQ+ children of all ages and share your story with them? Then this is the group for you! Join in our Parent Group Thursday evenings at the Coastal Bend Pride Center. This is a safe space to discuss hardships, offer support, and provide meaningful connections between group members. We will also discuss how we can best support LGBTQ+ youth throughout our area.

It is natural to have questions and need support, parents can sometimes struggle when their loved one comes out as LGBTQ+ or gender diverse. This group will focus on helping parents gain a deeper understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and how we can best support our LGBTQ+ youth as we learn more about the community.

This group will navigate topics and questions such as:

Being the Parent of an LGBTQ+ Child
LGBTQ+ Lingo
Healthcare and Support Services
How to Support LGBTQ+ Youth
The Coming Out Process
The Trans Experience (including Puberty Blockers & HRT)
Community and Online Resources
And much more!

The LGBTQ+ Parent Support Group meets Thursdays from 6:30 – 7:30pm via Zoom and in person at the Coastal Bend Pride Center. Questions may be directed to the Pride Center staff by calling 361-557-7433.
